The doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and educational support to parents in pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. Their purpose is to help families have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience. A birth doula works closely with clients throughout their pregnancy to help them to prepare for birth through educational resources.  During labor, a doula is present either at home, hospital or birthing center to provide physical and emotional support in a non-medical capacity. Doulas also act as an advocate in the birth space to promote a safe and comfortable birth environment.
